🛠 What You’ll Need:
- Window film (cut to size or roll)
- Spray bottle with soapy water (a few drops of dish soap in water)
- Utility knife or sharp blade
- Squeegee or plastic card (e.g. credit card)
- Tape measure
- Ruler or straight edge
- Microfiber cloth or paper towels
- Masking tape (optional)
📋 Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Clean the Window Thoroughly
- Use glass cleaner or the soapy water mix to clean the window.
- Remove all dust, dirt, and grease.
- Dry with a lint-free cloth.
- Tip: Clean the edges and corners well—any debris can cause bubbles.
2. Measure and Cut the Film
- Measure the window’s height and width.
- Cut the film slightly larger (1–2 cm extra on each side).
- If it's a patterned film, ensure the design lines up properly.
3. Wet the Window
- Spray the entire window generously with the soapy water.
- The water allows you to reposition the film and reduces bubbles.
4. Peel Off the Backing
- Carefully peel off the backing layer from the film.
- If it’s tricky, use two small pieces of masking tape on each side to help separate the layers.
- Tip: As you peel, spray the adhesive side of the film with soapy water.
5. Apply the Film to the Window
- Place the wet adhesive side of the film onto the wet glass.
- Slide the film into position.
- Don’t worry if it’s not perfect right away—adjust while everything is wet.
6. Remove Bubbles and Excess Water
- Use a squeegee or plastic card wrapped in a soft cloth.
- Start from the center and work outwards to the edges.
- Wipe excess water as it comes out.
- Be gentle to avoid scratching the film.
7. Trim the Edges
- Once positioned, use a sharp utility knife and straight edge to trim excess film along the window frame.
- Spray the film lightly while trimming to reduce friction.
8. Final Squeegee and Drying
- Go over the film again with the squeegee to remove any remaining water and bubbles.
- Leave the film to dry for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid touching or cleaning the film during this time.
